Rev. David D. Wynn
Pastor David D. Wynn, was Born to Mr. Robert E. Wynn Sr. and Mrs. Patricia A. Wynn, both of whom are deceased, on October 7, 1962, He is the third of five children. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Pastor Wynn was Educated in the Detroit Public School System, graduating from Frank Cody High School. He is the proud Father of two adult children, David II, and Darnae.
Acknowledging the call of God upon his life, Pastor Wynn yielded himself to the Lord and the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a young man. Upon graduating from High School, he opted to leave his home to join the Armed service, where he faithfully served ten years as a Communications Specialist E5, for the United States Navy; until the end of obligated service. His duties and responsibilities included, but were not limited to, the handling of Top Secret Cryptographic information; supervising both military and civilian personnel in the proper handling and safeguarding of highly sensitive information detrimental to our National Security.
Furthering his education he attended Edutek Professional College. He studied and completed courses in Electronics, and Information Systems; Computer Science Training, National University MCRD, San Diego, California. Finally, departing from the West Coast, he took up residence in Trotwood, Ohio where he gained employment with Envirotest Systems, Corp, working as an Electronic Technician, and later as Information Systems Technician Supervisor.
He attended seminary school at the Dayton Baptist School of Religion; (A. B. T’s) Extension Program, Nashville, Tennessee, 1997-2000, furthering his knowledge of the Bible, Pastor Wynn has obtained his Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies, from Faith Baptist College and Seminary School of Anderson, South Carolina; and is presently pursuing his Masters of Divinity, through Temple University, Cincinnati, Ohio.
On January 24, 2000, he was called from the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church in Trotwood, Ohio to Pastor the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church of Sidney, Ohio. As a Servant-leader, Pastor Wynn has demonstrated many gifts and talents given unto him by the Holy Spirit and has led Mt. Vernon Baptist for ten years to bountiful blessings in the Lord. He has revitalized and implemented various ministries within the church and community.
Because of his spiritual leadership, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church continues to move onward and upward. Through his submissive spirit and uncompromising preaching of the gospel, God has added to the church, the revitalization of our Christian Education, Discipleship Training (NBC) and Evangelistic ministries continues to be the focus at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Applying Biblical principles set forth by Christ, under his leadership, various ministries have been birthed; (Y. R. W. P.) Youth Rapping with the Pastor, Gems (Gifted for Effective Ministry), Monday Night Outreach, New Members Class, Brotherhood Union, Male Chorus, Health and Fitness, and Feed the Needy programs, are the result of the visionary gift from the Lord.
God has blessed Pastor Wynn with His grace and mercy and has opened many doors allowing him to minister the gospel in various parts of the city. His goal continues to be to evangelize the lost, strengthen and encourage those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, discipline effective witnesses for our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
As a community leader, and strong advocate for justice, and equality, he has earned the respect of community leaders at both, the city and county levels. His stand for equality toward all men was the motivating factor in organizing the first local Southern Christian Leadership Conference Chapter, Sidney-Troy Ohio, where he served as president. Pastor Wynn’s belief in the principles set forth by Christ mirrored by advocates of the civil rights movement, and in particularly Dr. King’s non-violence approach for justice, equality, and peace is a position he welcomes wholeheartedly.
Pastor Wynn was instrumental in initiating the first ever, “Sidney/Shelby County Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Community Celebration March and Banquet” now in its 7th year of celebrations in the city of Sidney; where it continues to grow. Pastor Wynn is a Life member of the NAACP, a member of the Shelby County Ministerial Association, where he served three faithful years as Secretary; Statistical Secretary of the Ohio Baptist General Convention; Immediate past President of Western Union Ministers and Deacons Institute; and elected to 2nd Vice Moderator, (Mechanicsburg), of the Western Union, August 30, 2009.
